Mr. Hansen, originally from Rutland, Illinois, was hired to teach at Mt. Zion beginning in the fall of 1997. At Mt. Zion, he teaches U.S. History, A.P. U.S. History, African-American History, and Contemporary America on a regular basis, but has also taught Government and Current Events. In addition to teaching history, Mr. Hansen directs/coaches the boys and girls quartets and ensembles. Over the years, he has also been Student Council advisor, Varsity Scholastic Bowl coach, as well as Post-Prom sponsor. Mr. Hansen graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science Education and received a Masters Degree in History from EIU in 2003. His hobby is music, and spends a good deal of time singing in a barbershop quartet,"Sound Opportunity," a gospel quartet, "Legacy," as well as with an internationally competitive a cappella chorus,"The Sound of Illinois."
